British manufacturer Bentley is waving farewell to its iconic twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine with the ultra-limited Batur Convertible, a variant of the Batur coupe.

Crafted by Bentley’s long-time associate coachbuilder Mulliner, only 16 of these exquisite convertibles will be produced, making them even more exclusive than their hard-top counterparts.

While the convertible retains much of the coupe’s styling and performance, the most obvious change is the addition of a soft-top roof, which can be raised or lowered in just 19 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h. Each Batur Convertible will be a “bespoke two-seat grand tourer,” tailored to the buyer’s preferences.

Under the hood, the Volkswagen Group’s TSI-badged W12 engine remains unchanged, delivering an impressive 544kW/1 000Nm to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Despite no official performance figures being released, the Batur Convertible is claimed to be Bentley’s most powerful drop-top ever.

Inside, the Batur Convertible offers the same luxurious experience as the coupe, with a wide range of veneers, materials, and leathers to choose from. However, the rear seats have been removed to accommodate the convertible’s folding roof.

The Batur Convertible will feature the same 22-inch alloy wheels and carbon silicone brake system as the coupe, providing exceptional stopping power. Pricing is expected to be around £2 million (R46.3 million), slightly higher than the coupe’s £1.6 million (R37 million) price tag, reflecting the exclusivity and craftsmanship of this limited edition model.
