The dress was so form-fitting that two attendants in tuxedos had to assist Tyla up the Met steps. “That’s the only way I’m getting up these stairs,” she said to an Access Hollywood reporter.

Her tawny, strapless gown, crafted from three shades of sand, featured a structured bodice that mimicked a shoreline, with a gentle dip hinting at her bellybutton. Completing the ensemble was an hourglass-shaped handbag, further embracing the theme.

Attending her inaugural Met Gala, Tyla explained on the red carpet that her look was inspired by the sands of time. She was not alone in interpreting the event’s “Garden of Time” dress code, as Sabrina Harrison donned a gold gown by Chrishabana adorned with contorted gold clocks.

Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, revealed to Vogue that he was captivated by the transient nature of sand, which inspired the gown’s design. Tyla, 22, expressed her excitement for the unconventional concept, labeling it “crazy” and admitting she loved it.
